George Catlett Marshall (b. December 31, 1880, Uniontown, Pennsylvania-d. Benjamin Sumner Welles (1892-1961) graduated from Harvard University in 1914 and began his diplomatic career in 1915 as Secretary of the United States Embassy in Tokyo.
